About Us

Welcome to Open Hearts Community!

Our Vision Statement says it all: “We are followers of Christ who are inclusive, progressive and bold in faith and action.”

If you are looking for a church family that is LGBTQ affirming, pro-immigrant’s rights, and cares about the welfare of Greensboro… You have found your home.

If you are looking for a community that goes out into the community to love our neighbors, protest injustice, and model a Christ-centered view… You have found your home.

If you are looking to be a part of something new, and share your ideas, talents, and heart with like-minded folks… You have found your home.

Our Story

Open Hearts Community began in March of 2025 as a group of folks dissatisfied with the status quo of organized religion and seeing a need in the world for radical love and hospitality. Over the past year, we have organized to discern our identity, mission, and calling in Greensboro. This is a never-ending journey changing with the Spirit’s prompting. We make up a group of 20-25 dedicated followers each Sunday, seeking to grow in size, faith, and service to the community. We recognize that we are forming a new church in a challenging time, where the Bible is often used as a weapon, rather than a means of comfort, where people live in fear of losing rights and freedoms, and where russian division and violence threaten our neighbors. But we believe that, for these reasons we are called to be a beacon towards a better future that is possible.

Our vision as a church is to keep it simple and sincere. On Sundays, you will find a church service that feels intimate and conversational. We currently rent our space from a Presbyterian Church, which allows us to be flexible while we engage in a healthy partnership.

As part of our efforts to build trust with the community, we promise radical transparency– offering frequent updates on expenditures and inviting all members to participate democratically in the life and mission of our church.

We also believe all church members hold great power. Therefore, all members have the opportunity to vote, propose ideas, raise concerns, and help shape our church’s direction.
